Safe Trampolines Are A Must

September 10, 2008

There are over 100,000 trampoline injuries every year. It is important to provide safe trampolines. If we want to have safe trampolines there are some things to think about before you buy one.

Trampolines can be dangerous but you can have safe trampolines if you follow some good rules.

Check out the trampoline before use and make sure it is properly placed. The surface should be level and have 5 to 6 feet of space around it with no obstacles. There should also be sufficient overhead clearance and no hazards under the trampoline.

Adult supervision is a good idea for younger children. This will not prevent all injuries but it can help. Safe trampolines are easier to ensure if parents are present during the jumping.

If you want to have safe trampolines you will need to establish the rules. One person on a time is a good rule for safe trampolines. If there is more than one person on the trampoline at one time you run the risk of accidents.

Children should learn the proper way to stop the bouncing motion. You bend at the knees and hips when your feet meet the trampoline bed. This is another good rule for safe trampolines.

No one who uses the trampoline should be doing inverted skills unless they have had instruction by someone who is qualified in this area. There are many people who can teach trampoline skills and they know how to instruct others to do the skills safely.
You can be a promoter of safe trampolines if you know the risks and follow the rules.
