As a muscle, the heart must get a workout, so that it stays fit and functions properly, just like the rest of your body. Without that, you stand a greater risk of developing heart disease. In order to obtain maintain a healthy heart, treadmill or other aerobic exercise on a regular basis is recommended. To reap the most health benefits, exercise for a total of a half hour to an hour daily. You could split it up 10 minute increments of exercise 3-6 times throughout the day, or do half in the morning and the other after dinner, or even a half hour at one set time in the day, however you prefer. Swimming, bike riding, and sports are fun for people of all ages-you are never too young to take good care of your heart. Treadmill walking, running, or jogging is another great way teens and adults can still get exercise, even in inclement weather. Unlike aerobics or exercise classes, you do not need to have an instructor, personal trainer, or be around a group of other people when using a treadmill. You can workout from the comfort of your own home, any time, and at your own pace. You do not need to spend any money on additional equipment, and there are models available that fold up easily for storage purposes.

Consult with your doctor before starting a fitness routine. When you do start exercising, start out slowly, gradually increasing the amount of exercise each time, or else you will push yourself too hard too fast and suffer from unnecessary pains. Overall, it is your body’s rate of activity that is important-do not be too concerned with your body weight, as that will take care of itself in time if you are diligent about staying fit.

ProForm, NordicTrack, Image, HealthRider, Reebok, Weslo, Freemotion Fitness, and Epic treadmills are just some of the products made by the company Icon, the world-leading equipment producer. Not only has Icon achieved a solid reputation for producing top-quality products, the company is known for its extensive research and development processes used in creating them. Of all the brands listed, only Epic treadmills are less popular, only spotlighted because of Icon’s push for selling them at certain retailers-most notably Costco.

Brands like ProForm, NordicTrack, and Image are all associated with some of the highest forms of fitness equipment available, on which even athletes rely. And, with prices within reasonable ranges so that they are affordable, most homes and gyms are equipped with Icon’s array of fitness products.

ProForm is the leader in treadmills, known most often for its capability to fold and store with ease. NordicTrack began with ski simulation products, and eventually turned to low impact workout equipment with proven success. Image combines simplicity and effectiveness with affordable treadmills and squat-rack bench. HealthRider has unique technology, including BioLogic Pulse Training, iFit.com compatibility, and Softtrack Cushioning. Reebok is known for fitness accessories, most notably its shoe wear, but they have expanded into fitness equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and yoga accessories. Weslo is a popular brand for everyday fitness-touting equipment for just about anyone, with low prices.

Freemotion Fitness provides Epic equipment, as well as NordickTrack and Reebok and its own Freemotion brand. Freemotion products are superior quality and they pride themselves in their customer care. With Epic, you get functional fitness equipment, with strength and versatility, ranging from strength to cardio. While there are two models of Epic treadmills, only the 9600 is available on Freemotion’s website, and is more popular than the T60 from Costco.

Most treadmills built in the last few years have been equipped with the necessary hardware and software to turn it into an Interactive Trainer Treadmill. While not so long ago the Interactive Trainer Treadmill seemed like something from a distant future, the future is upon us, and the Interactive Trainer Treadmill is here to stay in our fitness landscape. And many can’t wait to see where technology is going to take it.

The early days of the interactive treadmill meant nothing more than one, maybe a few, pre-programmed workouts. And the only display, if any, was a bar graph or a line graph. They were not very interesting.

Today’s interactive treadmills, however, are fascinating, and the models are becoming more interactive and more complex each year. Many people enjoy the fact that these treadmills seem to challenge them as much as they challenge themselves, with professionally designed programs. Some models even offer a pre-recorded trainer who offers motivational thoughts and encouragement. High-energy music is also often included.

Some consoles have advanced to the point where a video screen takes the user through a walk or job through various famous cities. And it’s this type of escapism experience, on a much larger scale with more of a virtual reality component, that could be in the future for interactive treadmills.

Future gyms may contain treadmill rooms that will look like and feel like one of those virtual reality golf games found in golf centres across North America, and virtual reality glasses or goggles may become part of the treadmill uniform. But while the Interactive Trainer Treadmill may be here to stay, we may not recognize it in a few years.

Treadmills are beneficial to all types of people who exercise. Some are looking for a low impact walk while others are more into a hard core running workout. Either way most treadmills come with preprogrammed workouts or you can come up with your own treadmill walking workout that fits your needs.

Treadmill walking workouts have proven to burn the same about of calories as walking outdoors. The pro to treadmill walking is that you can watch TV, read, or talk on the phone while doing it. Another pro for me is that I can walk on my treadmill in my exercise clothes in my own house without the judgmental eyes of others. In Walking Magazine, Dave McGovern listed 20 top treadmill walking workouts. One was called `The Retro’. `The Retro’ involved walking backwards on a treadmill for 10 to 15 minutes to strengthen your coordination, strength, and balance. Another workout, called `The Quick Step’ helped endurance and boredom. You count your steps for one minute, set a goal, and do not fall under that goal. Other workouts mentioned include workouts to help you think, relax, or catch up with friends.

The preprogrammed workouts work fine for most people. If you continue to do the same workout it may get monotonous to you and you may need to change it up. Come up with a workout that works best for your fitness level and body type. You also need to vary your workout depending on if you are just trying to stay fit and healthy or you are trying to lose weight.

If you own a major piece of exercise equipment, such as a treadmill, it will eventually need some kind of repairs. You can find treadmill repair parts at a local department store, fitness store, or online.

Many treadmills found at department store, like Sears, have at least a 1-year parts warranty. Sears will fix or replace any parts that break that are covered by warranty. When you need to replace a part for a treadmill purchased at Sears you can deal directly with them instead of the manufacturer. Other fitness stores offer the same kind of deal. Some may get the treadmill repair parts from the manufacturer so that the consumer does not have to worry about it and others make you contact the manufacturer yourself. One web site online that can help you with repairs for treadmills is www.treadmilldoctor.com. At this web site you can find nearly any treadmill repair part you need. You can email them the brand name and model of your treadmill, the serial number, and the part needed and they will email you a price quote for that part. They also have a troubleshooting page that may help detecting what the problem with your treadmill is and how to fix it. They can walk you through some repairs or advise you if it needs to be done by a professional. Www. Treadmilldoctor.com should definitely be a first stop if something goes wrong with your treadmill.

Take good care of your treadmill because repairing it is not a cheap fix. Treadmill repair parts and the professional who fix them can run you a large bill. Always do recommended maintenance on your treadmill.

There are many accessories you ca add to a treadmill to enhance its productivity. One accessory many people add to a treadmill is a treadmill reading rack. Reading racks come in handy for those who like to read while walking on their treadmill. Most reading racks can fit books or magazines.

You can find a variety of treadmill reading racks at your local department store, fitness store, or online. The treadmill reading rack offered by Keys, can hold books, magazines, phones, remotes, water bottles, and more. The clear reading rack allows the display screen to still be read and can be purchased for about $25. Most of the reading racks are clear so you can see your display through them and can move from machine to machine. Many treadmills have reading racks built into them when you buy it.

he Nautilus NTR 800 Treadmill is designed for home use and includes a reading rack for books or magazines and a water bottle holder. It can hold a maximum weight of 400 pounds and a maximum speed on 12 mph. The Landice L8 LTD Cardio Trainer Treadmill is ranked high in customer satisfaction. It has a 15% incline level, speeds to 11 mph, a 500-pound maximum weight, and a reading rack for your convenience.

If you enjoy exercise, but get a little bore, try a reading rack. It can hold the remote if you are watching television, the phone in case it rings, or any kind of reading material to keep you entertained.

When deciding to buy a treadmill, one decision you will have to make is what kind of motor you want. You have a choice between a DC (direct current driven) motor and an AC (alternating current) motor. Most treadmills for the home have treadmill DC motors.

Treadmill DC motors are better for home systems for a number of reasons. The DC motor is usually quieter than the AC motor. AC motors also usually require more power to run them. AC motors are usually used in commercial treadmills like those at gyms that run all day. Most people like to listen to music or watch television while walking on a treadmill, so a quieter motor will help in that aspect. A DC motor also contains fewer parts, which means less repairs and less money. DC motors start slower than AC motors and allow for a more consistent speed and incline. Most companies sell replacement treadmill DC motors if it happens to need replacing. Treadmill companies usually also offer a warranty of some kind on the motor. It is wise to get a warranty on the motor of at least 1 year. Horsepower on DC motors vary. You can purchase a treadmill with a DC motor with a horsepower of 1.5 or 2.75, depending on the strength you need. There are also other variations on horsepower for DC motors.

Deciding on the motor type and horsepower is only one decision to factor in when choosing a treadmill. Treadmills are not inexpensive and many factors should be considered when choosing one.

If you enjoy fitness but you hate looking at the machinery, you may want to try a treadmill cabinet. A treadmill cabinet has a fold out treadmill in it that will fold up and be hidden behind doors when not in use. For those who hold appearance important, a treadmill cabinet is a must.

Treadmill cabinets are not cheap, but are nice. Most are made of wood and resemble an armoire. They come in a variety of styles for your needs. Most has space for a 20" or 21" television that you can watch while working out. Some treadmill cabinets also come with a weight bench and dumbbells.
